86301 main Full Different types of Deck Canopies Although there are many styles of deck canopies that can be chosen from, awnings are by far one of the most popular designs, as they can allow an individual to choose an awning that can protect the deck from exposure and the elements, which can reduce the wear and tear of the deck and they can be easily changed when the use of the awning is not required. Through the many styles that are available, retractable awnings are indeed the most popular and come in varieties that are motorized, as well as those which are manual and require the individual to make use of the pulley system which is able to extend and retract the awnings.

Other types of canopies that are available are those that are free standing and attach directly to the deck, rather than being attached to the wall of the home. These types of canopies cannot often be retracted and they can be easily damaged in the case that they are not removed. Many of these types of canopies come with a small frame and can be included in the deck design, if they are attached to the deck. There is often material through the top, as a canopy, but also walls which are included in the design to reduce the exposure to certain elements like wind – this is essentially an outdoor room and can be an effective way to extend the living space, outdoors.

Awnings are one of the most popular ways to provide protection to the deck and increase outdoor living spaces, but they are also expensive. Although expensive, an awning will outlast a traditional tent style canopy for years – which can help to make the decision when deciding which type of deck covering to choose.
